Back in 1967 . . .

Dave spent 5 years at CTC and has taught for the past year. In his words, “That says a lot!” He is teaching at Luther High School South in Chicago.

He plans to work toward a Master’s degree in physics and eventually move west to God’s country. By that he no doubt means Idaho or Utah.

I will continue to procrastinate in the hope that you (and others) really will come to San Diego to brow beat me.  Would love the opportunity to share the countries 'Greatest City' with you!

A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copyingthe old canons and laws of the church by hand.

He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies.

The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot.

So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He finds him banging his head against the wall and wailing,
"We missed theR! We missed the R! We missed the R!"
His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably.

The young monk asks the old abbot, 'What's wrong, father?'

With A choking voice, the old abbot replies,

"The word was... CELEBRATE!"

And then, the Young Monk poked the Pope in the eye with a sharp stick, married a Nun, gave up celibacy, penned the words to "Away in the Manager" and became known as the Great Reformer...The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther.

...well, that's just my take on it!

In 2015 Dave moved from sunny San Diego to Thayne, Wyoming to be closer to family members. His connections with the wine world continue as he began creating beautiful handiwork out of used wine barrels. His work will be featured at the Red Path Gallery in Seward from May 5-31, 2016. The gallery is in the middle of the block on the north side of the downtown square. These are some of the items he will display:
